Vidit's Sea World Race

This is a story I wrote for a first grader about himself, drew pictures about the story and made it into a book. I just gave the book to the boy the other day and he loved it! I am very happy with how this story turned out.

One day while Vidit was visiting Sea World with his family, they announced over the loud speaker, “There will be a speedboat race near our Shark Encounter exhibit. The boat races will start at 12.” Vidit was so excited because he had a speed boat racing game at home that he loved to play called Hydro Thunder.
He ran across the park to the Shark Encounter exhibit to find that almost every boat had been taken already; the only boat that wasn’t taken yet was a really old, slow-looking boat. The boat had a crack on the side of it that was about two and half feet and looked destroyed.
Suddenly Vidit’s older brother, Benny, came to the rescue and exclaimed, “We can fix the boat together!”
When Vidit looked at his watch, it was already 11 o’clock; they only had an hour left to fix the boat. They worked so hard together fixing the crack in the boat and making the boat look brand new, that…
by 12 o’clock, when the races were about to start, the boat looked nothing like the slow, old boat Vidit had found. The boat looked brand new and straight out of Hydro Thunder.
Then the announcer called all the boats to starting line. He announced that the course would go all around Sea World, going through each exhibit and into the stadiums.
Vidit wonder to himself, “How in the world am I supposed to race on land in a boat?” Then Vidit saw a new button he had not seen before with a picture of a flying boat on it.
When he pushed the button his boat was no longer in the water, but hovering above the water. “This is awesome!” he exclaimed.
Then he heard the gun blast that started the race. Vidit had never driven a boat before, but found the controls to be very similar to his Xbox controller at home.
As Vidit rounded the first corner of the track, he entered Shamu’s exhibit as Shamu waved and cheered him on.
Next, Vidit raced through the Dolphin Encounter exhibit. Knowing he had enough time, Vidit stopped to feed and pet the dolphins.
They were very friendly and told him to keep up the great racing. As he left the dolphins cheered him on saying, “Go Vidit!”
Vidit was in 1st place as he was entering the last exhibit of the race, which also happened to be Vidit’s favorite exhibit, the sharks. As he was racing by in his flying boat, he saw an injured shark in the water that looked like he had been hit by something.
Vidit, knowing the right thing to do was to stop and help, got out of his flying boat and jumped into the water to see if the shark needed any help. Vidit saw that the shark’s dorsal fin was badly bent and he wanted to help.
He swam over to the shark and the shark let him look at the injured fin. Vidit figured out that the fin was badly sprained and just needed to be bandaged up. After he bandaged the shark, he finished the race.
He explained to the people who ran Sea World what had happened and they declared Vidit the winner of the race and gave him a free pass to Sea World whenever he wanted. Finally, Vidit received a medal for being the hero of the day.
